Stretch Reducing Rolls

Stretch reducing rolls are mainly produced using the centrifugal casting method. Hereby the various materials can be combined such as: chilled cast iron, nodular iron, indefinite and grey cast iron. The two sectional pictures show the microstructure comparison between a chilled cast iron roll and a centrifugal compound cast iron roll:

Whereby a chilled cast iron roll is manufactured with the hardness depth of only about 10% of the roll diameter, a centrifugal cast iron roll can be regulated to have the complete necessary working layer made of a high resistant consistency. The advantages of the centrifugal reducing rolls is in their wear resistance performance, better calibre surface and thereby higher lifetime with respectively low running costs. For special cases the qualities chrome steel and special steel are available.
