Thermal Roll Concepts
MonoTherm 90® (former Irle-Type A)
This roll type was designed for low heating capacity and is usually used in two- or multi-roll-calenders.
Heating medium: water or saturated steam.
Heating medium flow: mono pass system (central boring).
Maximum surface temperature: 90°C.
MonoTherm 120® (former Irle-Type D)
This roll type was designed for low heating capacity and is usually used in two- or multi roll calenders and super calenders.
Heating medium: water.
Heating medium flow: mono pass system (internal peripheral borings).
Maximum surface temperature: 120°C.
DuoTherm 200® (former Irle-Type F)
DuoTherm 200® is a thermal roll designed for maximum heating performance, high surface temperatures and mechanical demands. The rolls guarantee a high operational temperature- and shape accuracy. The roll shape is determined by the number of peripheral borings.
- heating medium: water, thermal oil and saturated steam
- heating medium flow: duo pass system
- maximum surface temperature: 200 °C
- usual roll material:
- chilled cast iron quality K or KT;
- chrome steel quality KSTV;
- forged steel quality FSI-plus, FSC or FSW;
The DuoTherm 200® has been offering the best results for years, compared to competitor products, and this is due to constructional reasons because it has many more peripheral bores. This means that the DuoTherm 200® - roll reduces the unwanted polygon-effect. Radius deviations in the shape of less than 1 µm and deviations in the temperature of less than 2°C over the whole barrel length are standard.
